Nick's Prom

Nick and Alex

Alex, Nick, Amber, Beave, Alex & Tyson

This past week was busy preparing for Nick's Senior Prom. We were so excited when he asked if they could have the dinner at our house. The kids all looked beautiful! They were all so kind and gracious it made it all worth it. It was especially fun for us to have Steven and Tyson in his group. The three of them all started out their school days together and have been buddies ever since. We had lots of help from their parents which made the night extra fun.

Wiffleball and Grace

I have known my entire life that I am less than graceful. I spent an entire week at cheer leading camp in the 9th grade trying to do a cart wheel. I must have extra gravity as I really like being close to the ground. I am constantly tripping over my feet, falling down the stairs, bumping into walls. I even have to be careful how high a heel I wear so I don't fall off it. Such has been my life.

Last week for YM/YW combined activity we played wiffleball inside the cultural hall. Being competitive and "less than graceful" don't mix well. Especially on a floor so slippery it could be used as an ice skating rink. I watched carefully to see how to hit the ball so I could get on base. Finally it was my turn and I was excited because I had a plan to outsmart the other team. I hit the ball straight down so it would bounce around and give me a chance to run to first. That was my first mistake as I am not exactly moving at lighting speed these days. After my great hit, I put my head down and was off to first base. After a few steps as I pushed off to get myself really moving, my foot slipped which propelled me forward. I tried to catch up to my fall but could not get my fatness moving fast enough to catch up. I was running with my arms out in front of me and all the YW thought I was trying to slide into first base (just 20 ft early). I landed face first on the gym floor, whacking my brow bone. It was a good thing my knees, elbows, shoulders and knuckles all hit the floor first to break up my fall or it could have been really bad.

After a late night visit to the ER for some stitches and a never ending headache all is well. However, Mr.McDreamy's reality check was not so pleasant. He asked me when I was going to stop acting like a 20 year old. A 20 year old???? What about a 12 or 2 year old like it used to be. Facing reality is not pretty, especially with stitches and a slightly black eye.

How much wood would a woodchuck chuck ........

If a woodchuck could chuck wood??????
Let's all have a moment of silence for my man as he heads down that "slippery slope" of life. Bishop asked him to go to Wood Badge training, which he really doesn't have time to do, but because he is such a good man (and scout) he could not say no. He is packing tonight for a fun filled 3 day excursion to learn about wood? (I'm not really sure, reminds me of Fred and Barney heading out to the water buffalo meetings at the bowling alley.) I hope I will still know who he is when he comes home from this life changing experience. Just in case it doesn't change him this weekend, he has another 3 days in May. Honestly, I am very proud of him for going. Knowing how hard it is for him to now know that he is no longer on top of the slippery slope and is headed face first down the other side. I love my Woodchuck!

Shower the people you love with love.......

Our new little baby is almost here..... so the shower was upon us. Thanks to Kim, everything was perfect! The food was delicious and decor, "simply precious!" There was so much love and kindness everywhere we turned. After seeing all the darling outfits and fun blankies etc, I can hardly sleep at night just thinking about when we will get to hold him in our arms. I think I am liking this Grammie thing!

Madison made this cute blanket for baby Jack.

Cute Chelsea, married the Wolf man!

I LOVE the Daley's!

Yo-Ho, Yo-Ho Way to go Angi!

Just like his Dad!

The Wiz/Ferrin Fam

Thanks everyone for a great night!

SOAR like an Eagle....

We (finally) properly honored Nick at an Eagle Court of Honor last week with 3 others from our ward. Bishop Riggs honored each of them with their own Eagle.

The proud parents and one relieved scout leader.

On my honor I will do my best....

to do my duty, to GOD and my Country. To obey the scout laws, help other people at all times.
It takes a Village...(and a few great men!)

Dil's famous "bald eagle" joke- Nick's favorite!

Way to go Nick! We are so proud of you. Before you know it you will be following in the footsteps of all of your great leaders. It will be your privilege to work with boys just like you!

My Girl.......

I am so blessed to have this beautiful girl in my life.
We had a great time finding the perfect dress.
Happy Easter!

My BOY is a "STATE"

AND THE WINNER is.......AUSTIN GIBBS & THE STATES! Wow what a weekend this has been. Rob's band was in the Tempe Music Festival Garage Band competition. It has been going on for the past several weeks. They have had several performances and have done some promotional spots for the news. It has been quite a ride for them. Yesterday they played on the "garage band" stage at 5:00. They did great! Around 6:00 they announced the winner of the high school division and then the college division. We all went nuts when they announced his band. They immediately took the band and all of us "with the band" to get ready to go on stage. We all got backstage passes for the show. The college band was going to open for Fergie and the high school band, The Gin Blossoms but after the winners were announced they switched the order to better match the style of the band. I was so nervous for them but they were all just livin' the dream. We quickly called Cameron, Cecia, Scott & Angi and told them to come quick to see this. (The Festival is huge, projections were they sold 24,000-25,000 tickets.) They played two songs, the first with Rob playing harmonica, which is my favorite because it features him. The crowd loved them, the energy was unbelievable and of course they gave a fabulous performance. Congratulations Rob, Marshall, Austin, Kody, Loren & Johnny! I think this ride is going somewhere, but for now kick back and enjoy the moment. (I'll post more photos when I get them. I followed the rules and didn't take a camera with me, go figure.) The band won $1000 scholarship, $2500 in Fender Guitar equipment, $500 Dillards gift certificate.

This song was taped at a previous show a few weeks ago.
